Hi all best of the season to you.
two questions,
1) i have a four into two into one manifold feeding a single 2" pipe which follows the route of a normal exhaust out of the rear of the car to one side, i
want to fit a back box which is reasonably loud but which will not stifle a modded 1500 (balanced and stage three). what would people suggest that wouldn't
break the bank?( i currently have a cherry bomb to use but i fear it would get me "fuzzed".)
2) I have the dolomite brake servo/master cylinder and i wish to fit it to my herald, can i take the pedal from a dolomite and create a mounting that would
allow me to use it on my car?
many thanks in advance of your help.

You could try Sports Car Supplies. The back twin boxes + mid pipe seem good value in Stainless but I also think they do mild steel. Can't help on the
other.

thanks Alan, but all i need is the single backbox, what i fit is the question, i have seen many different boxes on heralds before, but what is the
best, do i seek for an aftermarket box for a car of a similar engine/power or what. Perhaps for a 205 gti or similar?
Calvin.

Don't worry about being 'fuzzed'
Old cars have loud exhausts. They don't really attract attention.
I drove my GT6 engined kit with no silencers for about 3 years, not a problem (apart from the ringing in my ears and the lack of backpressure
casuing mis-fireing)
There is at least 1 modded gitfire out and about that also runs with no silencers.
Now if you car said Saxo or Corsa on the back... that would be an entirely different matter.
And if you do get pulled, all you will have to do is get it fixed, you can not be expected to own a decibel-o-meter to check it can you???
Colin
p.s. I think Phoenix exhausts make the best sound, and you should be able to buy a single box from the factory.

So i may be able to get away with a cherry bomb, shall suck it and see, should be fruity.

That's because it was being run at a track day... it has two exhausts depending on what it's being used for

We were asked to stop using my mates Subaru as it was too loud, so I suspect that Dave would not have even been allowed out in the
first place.

Am I missing something? What's this famous car?
I try my best with this bloody club but still I seem to be kept in the dark about things I 'should' know about.
Sorry, my Spit isn't in keeping with all the Car Polishing competition (concours) cars.

Dare I say that the Picton Sports Cars green 2.5pi spitfire isn't a concourse car polishing car, but a very well
engineered, light, simple car (James please show me mercy). Always a head turner when it's around, especially as it usually
runs with no silencers at all!

Ahhhh, why didn't someone say what it was. I know now.

Vinny,
It isn't a car for designed for polishing - however I think I would dare say that it is incredibly clean and rather
more close to being concours than a lot of other cars. What little there is on "show" is very very good. There's no
chrome to polish for instance - but the paint job is very nice indeed. The custom dash and dials are all very neat -
the wires with their spinners are lovely - other than that there isn't much more to it on a show side.
Simple - in concept yes - however there are a huge number of small mods that make this car what it is. Shortened rear
driveshafts, adjustable bottom wishbones etc the main one being the engine moved back and all the bodywork to go with
it. Most of which is essentially unseen.
I've done a good 500 miles in the car this year - it is lovely to drive. Going in to corners it holds itself so well -
get the back out (not that I did too often) and it holds itself. It's basically a very easy to drive monster. The
acceleration is unbelievable - it really is a piece of theatre. Especially when you have your goggles on, head to the
steering wheel (to avoid the wind a bit) and charging up the motorway at great speed. You can be chugging along at 70,
decide to overtake something, flick it out of overdrive, and be in triple figures before you know it. You feel like a
50's racing driver - the noise and the speed. Simple sublime and brutal all at the same time. I've been in several 2.5
engined Spit's and GT6's - nothing compares.
And now I am depressed and wanting another go at the wheel...

Vin, I thought you meany MY green car, 93dB with home made straight through silencers on 2" pipes
Donnington Park noise limits? No limit...
bored, too cold to be in the garage, too salty to be out in the car, too sleep fulfilled to fall into bed at my usual hour, too
fed up with alchohol to want to have a nightcap, too many plans for next year to lie quietly
anybody want to consider a co-drive for 10CR 2007??? fresh air and weather guaranteed, split the costs 50/50

Well, Jonathan, the Picton car as we know it. Your car was well behaved in the audible arena, mine was not - even with
silencers (at the same track but at the kit car show).
bored, cold, salty(?), insomniac, on-the-wagon, work-a-holic......seeks like minded for masochistic road trip through
europe to see many bugs swimming close up on visor......
