Yes. I can confirm that Acclaims are real Triumphs.

And to prove this point. I have just fitted a starter motor from one, onto a GT6 !!

AAAAGH I hear you cry. The Honda engine rotates the opposite way to a GT6 engine !!

And you are correct it does.
However the starter sits on the gearbox side of the bellhousing so therefore it rotates the same way as the GT6's starter. The bendix gear is the same 9 tooth configuration and pitch.

So how easy was this to do ?

Dead easy put starter in lathe machine off mounting lugs, turn up a new mounting flange then bolt this onto the starter and Bob's your auntie.

Obviously provided the ring gear has been turned round for the use of a pre engaged starter.
